Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

In ten years I'll have a smaller footprint

In 10 years, I would like to have an ecological footprint of less than 1, and along the way, I want to encourage other people to do the same. This is a harder goal than I first thought; I already try to use public transportation, not buy much packaged food, dress warm in the winter and cool in the summer so I don't need to waste as much electricity on heating/air conditioning. I've switched to a 45watt laptop from my 500watt gaming desktop. And I bought my first 3 watt LED lightbulb last month. You get 100,000 hours out of these suckers!

Anyone reading this may want to try this footprint calculator out for fun:

According to this, if everyone on earth were to live like me, we would need 1.83 planet earths to sustain everyone. Oink Oink! It looks like a few places I can cut down is by not eating meet, and not buying so many tools. Also, if I meet needs such as heating and lighting by using renewable energy I can reduce my footprint even further.

In fact, there is even some ways to profit from this mindset now. In many places governments are offing a premium on electricity generated by 'green means'. Here in Ontario you can make $0.80 kwh by feeding solar energy into the grid. Here's the math: if you have a 10kw solar array, you can make $8 an hour for 5 hours a day x 365 days a year. That works out to $14,600 a year! When governments subsidize at this rate, solar energy quickly pays for itself, and then some.
If you live in Ontario, I highly recommend checking out the Feed In Tariff:

So, in ten years, I hope to be done school (first of all). I'd also like to have my own family, and own a house with a big yard. I'd like to grow more food and generate more electricity than I can use so I can sell some back to the grid and make a few bucks on the side.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
