A crash course in changing the world.

I want to share my blog post from a year ago. I stopped writing the blog, because I grew weary of it.

http://antagonistvsprotagonist.blogspot.com/2009/05/india-land-of-r...

This is a message to all Indians,

I found http://in.news.yahoo.com/43/20090520/812/tnl-kerala-guru-gets-16-years-jail-term.html

I am not a journalist, actually far from it.My English isn't great, but still I want to spread an important message. So, bear with me.

Rape in India is so common, that Times of India reports "On an average 2 women get raped every hour".I wish things were that simple. The facts are more horrifying, as you are about to see

Only 1 in 70 of the rape cases get reported. And out of those, only 20% of the rapists get convicted.

20,737 cases of rape were reported in 2007 with a 7.2% increase from last year, according to Times of India.

If we assume rape cases to increase by 7.2% for 2008 and another 7.2% 2009,
Total number of reported rape cases this year would be=23830

Since only 1 in 70 cases are reported,

Total number of cases this year would be:23830*70=1668100

No of girls raped per day=1668100/365=4570

No of girls raped per hour=1668100/(365*24)=190

No of girls raped per minute=3

A girl gets raped every 20 seconds.

Assuming, that a rape takes 30 minutes

As I am siting here typing this, 100 girls out there are being raped, sexually molested or even killed.

It tell us how media can ensure that you get justice, even if everything else fails.

These lines, from the link I gave you at the beginning of the post, show what I am trying to say here:
___________________________________________________________________
Trouble first surfaced after a Dubai-based woman from Kerala complained that the godman had cheated her after taking money from her. The complaints of rape and sexual exploitation emerged after the media took up the issue and his photographs were splashed all over.
_____________________________________________________________

The next time you are involved in any malicious act, not just rape, don't be afraid to let the world know, through the media. Remember that you have the power to keep yourself anonymous.

Even though the media alone cant cover 1668100 rapes this year, anything is possible with 1 billion people helping them.Remember, that in the 40 minutes I needed to type this, 120 girls were raped.

Thank you for sharing this! The information you've posted is harrowing, but modern social psychology research show that people respond better to stories. Now I know this sounds ridiculous, but if you did what the media wasn't willing to do, if you posted the stories of the 1668100 women sexually assaulted, you would be starting a movement.

I recommend a book called Influencer.

Mm, There is another twist to this. In some cases, girls raped are deemed as "Impure" by her family, who is reluctant to share the story because it brings "Bad family name" to the house.
Also, About half the girls in the country are illiterate.

Thanks for the book, I'll look into it.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
