Innovate on existing platforms There are loads of things in Africa. Africans - especially the really poor, like my freinds in the slum in Freetown - are truly innovative. They know how to use things in a new way.
I agree with Muhammad Yunus (
http://muhammadyunus.org/) when he stresses the point that we all need to discover the potential and creativity of the poor.
For too long Western goverments, the World Bank, NGOs ect have focused on
their ideas on how Africa should be - how
they think it should develop. They/we did not succed!
It is time for a change in the development-thinking.
Let us innovate on existing platforms. Meening: Let's talk to the poor, listen to their wishes, make sustainable solutions, and most importantly: Let us do it because we actually care, and not because we want to make money!
