Do the hard work needed to
find a simple solution. As Leonardo da Vinci said, “Simplicity
is the ultimate sophistication”—and it is the key to this type of design
work.
Why can this secret of innovation personally help me change the world?
Well right now I am in university for engineering, but hopefully I will graduate with a degree in chemical engineering and obtain a job as a chemical engineer. I'd like to do environmental work with my degree, and creating applicable technology for stuff like water filtration seems really cool and fulfilling. This quote by Leonardo da Vinci is important to me, because in order for a technology to be accepted by a third world country it usually has to be easy. Nobody wants to read a great long list of instructions, and that is if they can even read in the first place. Hopefully I can do the hard work, so then they just have to follow easy instructions (maybe picture form?) and reap the rewards. Integrating technology into foreign societies can be tough but if the technology is simple, effective and easy to use then it is more than possible.
