Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

It's Not "Keep It Simple", It's "Make It Simple"

"Do the hard work needed to find a simple solution. As Leonardo da Vinci said, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”—and it is the key to this type of design work." — Amy Smith

Finding solutions is hard; finding simple—and therefore actually useful—solutions is harder. But when you do find them, the feeling of accomplishment is great. You've put a lot of time and effort into something that now feels obvious—of course that's the way to do this—but you don't begrudge it at all.

I'd like to learn about some of the things already being done, and see if I can help simplify, and thus improve, them.

Teon, I agree with you. This is the wave of the next generation of innovation. We already see it everywhere, with the overflow of data and information that the world is trying to feed us, we're trying to organize and digest all of this in a "simpler" way. We are also getting better at learning about what things logically go together to make "tuning" things much easier. One of the simplest examples I can remember is Equalizers. They were a big hit back in the 80s when people wanted to play with new sounds, but now users would rather just know there is an optimal setting for "classical", "jazz", "rock", "movies", etc, and not need to know how each frequency needs to be adjust to produce that sound. More leading edge efforts are using user feedback to adjust those "presets" for everything. This site for instance is constantly trying to make it easy for you to find the most relevant blogs. It's doing this by ranking users and blogs based on activity and other things. Without this feature, you would have to go through all the blogs, possibly chronologically and you would have to read a lot more things which had little value (as determined by the majority of users). Anyways, thanks for posing the topic for discussion.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
