Kartini's Day - Celebrating Women's Emancipation (Part 2 - Women vs Jeans)

The week we celebrated the Kartini’s Day, a friend suggested that women were expected to wear traditional dress = skirt and batik because it was Kartini’s Day and we were celebrating it. But another friend replied that because of Kartini women are no longer obliged to always wear skirt and batik at anytime. Because of her, women can now freely wear jeans or anything we want.

So, based on that, one more interesting point I found about empowering women and about Kartini who’s pioneered Women’s Emancipation. If just she decided to let go of her thoughts concerning education for women, if she’s never done anything with her role as woman of tradition, then probably I would still have to wear traditional dress, “kebaya” and batik skirt and have special hairstyle, everywhere and anytime, specially when I’ve got to go out, up to this recent time. That would be totally “complicated.” J

But, thanks to her that she did put into action the ideas she has in her mind, she did “broke the rule” about women’s role; she did write the book “Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang,” and she did inspired many other women to continue the struggle and put up a fight against inequality. Hence, one of the results is that jeans are everywhere, women wear this hardwearing trouser, and I think that’s fun J

However, though the awareness of many people has increased, but in some cases people just don't realize that actually they still have the conservative thought about women, just like what I’ve shared in the first paragraph. For example, women has to be like this or like that, has to do this and that, or women should wear this or that and etc.

What am I gonna do?

Wearing skirt because I want and I like it, cook because I love cooking and eating, I’ll do things that usually associated with woman’s stuff not because I’m woman but because I like it. That’s what I’m gonna do.

And I’m gonna share this with with everyone, specially the youth am working with, so that they will be in a good courage to improve themselves, to spread the wings and fly..

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
