A crash course in changing the world.
My favorite part of Exhibit A is "think like a child – children have no limit to their thinking." I feel that people need to channel their inner child to create fun innovation for world change. People, definitely including me, need to step away from being so serious and have fun with life. Social change can be brought about from any person. All people including children have the means to create change and innovation by simply thinking out of the box. Thinking like a child can help people break out from the norm.
I also liked "Problems are not always obvious from afar." I feel people need to be immersed in a society to know what problems need to be fixed and how to fix those problems. It could be a simple fix that no one outside the community would have come up with. It is important to understand the culture before "fixing" a problem. Culture plays an important role in what can fix a problem. Something that would work in America may not work in rural Africa. There are many differences and you cannot solve a problem in America like a problem in Africa.
The secrets of social innovation in Exhibit A was very interesting and is a great guide to how to approach solving problems in an society. Social Innovation is hard to implement, but having tools to guide the implementation may help social innovators.
