Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

KIVA answers to the DRAGON search : )

Here you can read the answer i received from Sarah Curl, KIVA's Customer Service Volunteer to my inquiry into the possibilties of opening a direct line of communications with people the EVOKE-KIVA team lends funds to.
At the bottom is my initial mail.

If u want to join the EVOKE-KIVA team: we are here

Hello Brick,

Thanks so much for your email.

Many of the Field Partners that work with Kiva have limited access to the internet, may not speak English, and have a very small number of staff members. For these reasons, it may be difficult for a partner to respond to your inquiry.

Kiva and its Field Partners are unable to facilitate direct communication between lenders and entrepreneurs at this time. However, if you ever want to post a comment in response to a journal entry publicly on the Kiva website, please know that you can click "Post a Comment" under a journal entry. Kiva's Field Partner may see your comment, and possibly even share your words of encouragement with the entrepreneur.

Hopefully that helps and please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best wishes,
Sarah Curl

Loans That Change Lives

Your comment:
Hello,

My name is Brick de Bois, I am from Belgium and I am a lender at KIVA.
Recently I have joined EVOKE
http://www.urgentevoke.com/
EVOKE is an attempt at making an online game that will use gamers' creativity and resourcefulness to make changes in the real world rather than the virtual world.
EVOKE tries to empower players with knowledge and action.
Various missions exist within the game to address real problems of real people in, among other places, Africa.
One of the players suggested that we, as players, need to find a way to get more direct feedback from the people we want to empower in Africa. I thought it might be a good idea for EVOKE players who are also KIVA members to try and contact directly the people we are or have been lending money too.
Since this link exists already through KIVA I had the idea to contact the field partners involved to ask for their co-operation in getting questions from EVOKE players to the people we are already linked to through the loan.

Since today there is a KIVA team called Urgent EVOKE in which EVOKE playing KIVA members are joining.
This mail is sent to you as an initial request from the members of this group for help in setting up a direct line of communication with the individuals or groups we have given a loan to.

EVOKE is a learning experience for many young people. It is a way of getting to know the problems facing millions of people everyday and trying to work on them.

We would certainly appreciate any positive response you could give to our effort.

Kind regards,
Brick de Bois

If we continue on with the Evoke Kiva team after the game ends we can probably organize something ourselves. I was in Cambodia in December and went to visit an orphanage and several workshops and training centers which employed and taught unskilled or handicapped Cambodians traditional crafts. I'm planning to go back next year sometime.

Also, we might look up the sponsors of 'our' entrepreneurs ourselves on the internet. I'm sure Kiva can't respond globally for all the different organizations they work with, but the individual organizations themselves, if they have an internet presence and English speakers might be more receptive to giving us more information-- at least about the situation in general.

Very true, Sarah.
As for contacting the field partners of the people who got a loan directly: I did send the same mail that i got a response from KIVA to the field partners of the people I am and did lend funds to. No answer so far.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
