The key isn't to completely change the culture, the key is to embrace it and enhance it.
I think a good thing to actually learn what it is really like is to place yourself in there shoes and live there for a week. Do what they do, live exactly how they would, and talk and listen to the right people. I think this is the best tip "Listen to the right people. Okay, so you probably don’t know what it’s like to carry fifty pounds of firewood on your head. Well, don’t pretend that you do. Talk to someone who has done it. I believe that the key to innovation in international development is truly understanding the problem, and using your imagination is not good enough."
