A crash course in changing the world.

learn 10 - going straight to source that created all this problems and more

instead of tackling social problems, I would strongly suggest that you'll join me and my efforts to focus not on the problems, but on what created them - the way we perceive ourselves and our world - moving from an individual geo-political perspective to a perception that sees oneself as part of the wh***, and taking all the responsibilty for making this change. the second goal is to focus on bringing the participants to experience the clear and present danger in not doing so - not as an intelctual understanding, but as a direct experience

while the analysis is correct you do not answer the how

I agree, Benny-- and I'd add that we need to change the way we think about the larger institutions-- businesses and governments and non-profits-- that we're all interconnected with, supportive of and dependent on to various degrees. I'm reading Paul Hawken's book, "The Ecology of Commerce" which makes a lot of these points in a very clear fashion. We need to change our view of industry from the machine model, taking in vast quantities of resources and spewing out goods and toxic waste in equally large quantities to a natural model in which resources are used in a process that incorporates both competitive and cooperative elements and produces both resources which support us and 'waste' which becomes a resource for other organisms or production cycles.

As to the how, I think it always boils down to the message people are most reluctant to accept: we change ourselves and let our actions mirror that change.

Nice! And I suggest that the HOW to do that might be to help more people focus on what people need to be healthy enough to develop into life-centric levels of motivation, using our most up-to-date understanding of developmental theory, such as Maslow's hierarchy of needs. :-)

Though I'd love to hear other theories about how to do what you suggest, too.

Oh, and Sarah, yes, I think supporting people who are interested in creating more natural models for industry is a great idea. We can compete against our own previous limitations, and cooperate to create new, more evolved, emergent ways of doing things.

sarah -you are completley right - we are the change everybody's looking for.
turil- thanks for the link of maslaw - it looks fascinating!
A.V. - the how is something I'm working on - it's difficult to understand it, but it boils down to one thing - knowing oneself...
thanks everyone :)

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
