I think that as we approach the future we will begin to see that there may not be a one size fits all approach.
I think there are many forms of exchange that will work and I will list them and my perception of their benefit:
1. The very best, I think, is barter. I have fruit, you have vegetables. Great! Let's trade. As long as we feel like it is a fair trade, this works perfect. I think it works well if you have services to offer as well. I need a beehive built, I can sew. Perfect. If everything breaks down, this, I believe will be the first system to begin functioning.
2. I like the idea of time value banks. I do jobs that will earn time to get something done I need.
http://community.timebanks.org/findtimebanks.php3. I really like the idea of microfinancing a lot.
http://www.microfinancingafrica.org/ ; I will touch on this later in the post on women's rights, but I think the key is going to be financing one community at a time.
4. Virtual currency is a great idea, but if parts of society begin to fragment, that asset value could dissappear instantly.
