A crash course in changing the world.
The story that I choose for this mission is UN officials join global call to end violence against women and girls. I found that the person who addressed this event is the deputy secretary, General Jan Eliasson and the name of the campaign is 'One Billion Rising'. This is about raising voices to stop violence with women and girls, like rape, female genital mutilation and sex slavery. In the article, there is a person called Mr. Ban said, "On this special day, I urge all governments to send us a Valentine message: a concrete commitment of action to end violence against women and girls" and "By standing together we can end violence against women and girls and build a world where all live free from harassment and fear." I like what he said, because it's all true and I think this can let more people contribute in this campaign. There are already 18 countries that are contributing on stopping gender-based. The deputy secretary, Mr. Eliasson also said, “Each of us has to do our part. Men must respect women as equals and show solidarity with women combating this scourge of violence. All of society will benefit when men and women unite and rise together.” I also like what he is talking about, because this is also true and also very convincing, I think this can also convince more people to stop gender-based.
