Learn 7 - Dengue Fever and the importan of Ushaidi

I am afraid that my country could be a serious victim of the dengue plague, we already have more 5000 suspicious cases and 1800 confirmed for this year.

What is the dengue fever?

Dengue fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) are acute febrile diseases which occur in the tropics, can be life-threatening, and are caused by four closely related virus serotypes of the genus Flavivirus, family Flaviviridae.[1] It is also known as breakbone fever. Each serotype is sufficiently different that there is no cross-protection and epidemics caused by multiple serotypes (hyperendemicity) can occur. Dengue is transmitted to humans by the Aedes aegypti or more rarely the Aedes albopictus mosquito, both of which feed exclusively during daylight hours. The WHO
says some 2.5 billion people, two fifths of the world's population, are
now at risk from dengue and estimates that there may be 50 million
cases of dengue infection worldwide every year. The disease is now
endemic in more than 100 countries.

What is the situation of my country currenly?

A new kind of the virus. The Ministry of Public Health esteem that there are 5000 suspicious cases of dengue and 1.828 cases confirmed.

How tthe Ushahidi platform could help us?

If we might face the amplification of this crisis in the future the Ushahidi platform could help us to share urgent information and data for the system of FrontlineSMS integration and extension http://www.frontlinesms.com (It’s easy to implement, simple to operate, and best of all, the software is free. You just pay for the messages you send in the normal
way), and the Sahana system . http://www.sahanafoundation.org/.
That to system can help us a lot with the distribution of information an the case of a person get lose in the midle of an epidemic.

Very interesting - is there a way we can help?

I hope everything is OK for you guys on the opposite side of the world from me. We had a pretty scary outbreak of SARS here a few years back and scarcity of reliable information resulted in shutdowns that were very damaging to the larger economy and community.

If you can pinpoint what's going on you can focus your response to maximise the benefit and minimise the impact on everyone else.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
