Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

During a crisis the power of journalists is really immense. They can influence the behaviour of the people positivly or even negativly. That is why "Managing Panic in a Pandemic" is the most important secret in my opinion. There it is mentioned what power journalists have and how they can help activly managing a crisis.
When I was thinking about journalism, usually the duty of information came to my mind. But this secret make me think about the critical role journalist can have in a crisis and how they can change the population´s feelings and fears by changing the words they use or the issuses they are reporting about.

They can make a major contribution by using "psychological first aid". That means that good thinks happen if you do them. The journalist should think about five main points safety, calming, connection, efficacy and hope and what it does mean to the people and bring them into the articles they write to deescalate a critical situation.
