Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

(LEARN10) Deftero Episodo (That's Greek to me ;-)

First of all, kudos to a job well done to the World Bank Institute, the game developers/writers/administrators, and everyone else involved in putting together Evoke and Season 1. I don't know if that can be said enough. Kudos as well to the thousands of people that have made Evoke Evoke.

Grounded in such a great beginning, below are ideas for the future, the first of which is what I would be most excited about:

HOW would you change the game for Season 2?
a) Have the episodes' stories originally be in a language native to the location in which the episode is taking place. And in order to have the story translated into another language, an agent must first research and answer a question (or more) about the location and its culture and language(s). This would not only serve as a reminder that there is a world out there beyond the scope of the English language, but it would also promote the learning of other languages in the process.
b) Have the heroes for each episode's story be from the location featured. This would shift the focus from aid being initiated from the outside to aid and initiatives instead starting from within, implicating that such communities are not necessarily helpless themselves. This would make sense from the game's perspective of moving into Season 2 because there are now more agents than just the original few Evoke started out as.

WHERE in the world should the network try to build up new EVOKE communities?
a) Any location where English is either not spoken or is not the native language.

WHAT new tools would you want as an EVOKE agent?
a) Ability to translate messages in other languages, meaning everyone can write and share in their native language yet still be able to communicate with one another. Just don't ask me how to do this :)

WHY would you come back for a second Season?
a) To continue to explore and integrate the challenges (and successes) we share in the world today.
b) To continue to have a community upon which to share ideas and learn from.

WHICH great challenges and social problems should the EVOKE Network tackle next?
a)
Religious conflict and understanding
b) International conflict and the history among nations
c) The concept of "foreign aid" and the benefits of it, as well as possible mis-perceptions and/or misguided actions that can come as a result of it.

WHO would you encourage to play Season 2?
a) Anyone wanting to explore their passion in life and discover more of who they are and what they care about.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
