"Problems are not always obvious from afar."
As we look at our world, as we analyze the challenges faced by certain regions, its very important that we refrain from assuming cookie cutter solutions will actually work on the ground. That is why living among the people is a critical component of problem solving in unfamiliar areas.
Consider the example of an attempt to solve a food shortage by sending seeds and basic sustainence to a foreign nation. Seems like a clear solution right? However, the reality may be that there will be infrastructure breakdowns, that local warlords will hoard the aid given them and use it to fund their agendas, or perhaps the particular types of food you are giving the local people to grow are not complementary with their existing farming methods.
Only by having someone who lives among the people can you effectively determine what solutions can be implemented in a given area.
