A crash course in changing the world.
"More people die from unsafe water than from all forms of violence, including war. These deaths are an affront to our common humanity, and undermine the efforts of many countries to achieve their development potential." -Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary-General, United Nations
My Hero Is Werner Erhard and I have been following how is work is impacting innovation in sustainable living. One of the organizations that was born out of his work is The Hunger Project. I have written other blog posts on their work with hunger, but they are also powerful advocate for water innovation as well.
One of the outstanding aspects of their role in eradicating hunger (and thirst) in the developing world is the empowerment that they bring to every project. They are not just building wells, they are pioneers in working with local villagers to create leaders for change. This has proven to be the most critical aspect of true transformation of communities.
Empowering Communities
