Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

The creative solution I think will make the biggest change
in how we use money in the future is a community oriented monetary system that Panamericana presented in one of his posts,
here is the basic idea:

"-Trade Rings

The problem with trade is that if you and I want to trade
we both need to have something the other one wants and
would trade for what we have to offer.
This problem can be solved if the trading is done not
between two persons as it would be expected but among
a ring of persons.

Consider this:

Person A provides Web Design services and needs a Gardening Book.
Person B provides Graphic Design services and needs some Web Design services .

No go.

But if we introduce a 3rd person...

Person C has a Gardening Book and needs some Graphic Design services.

Person A provides the Web Design services to Person B,
Person B provides the Graphic Design services to Person C
Person C gives the Gardening Book to person A.

The ring is closed.

If members of a network have a Wish List and a Gift List,
and a barter program runs through them finding the possible rings
the possibilities that what one wants is not available to be given
and the possibilities that what one has is not wished to be gotten
are reduced drastically.
It can be seen as a synchronic pay-it-forward ring, a pay-it-forward-now ring.

Wish/Gift lists can include products, services, futures(promises), even currencies.

Of course that if Person A has currency and wants a compass and Person B wants currency and has an extra compass they could just trade directly, that would be more efficient one would think. But how many people have their needs satisfied in the transaction? Only two.

What if:
Person A gives the 50 Credits to Person C
Person C gives a blender to Person D
Person D fixes a lawn mower for Person E
Person E gives a water filter to Person F
Person F gives 50 Credits to Person B
and Person B gives the compass to Person A.

Person A gets the Compass and Person B gets the Currency,
but six people have their needs satisfied instead of two.

These trade rings not only make possible trades that
would be impossible between two persons, as in the first example,
they also allow for trades that are already possible to be arranged
in a manner so as to enable other trades that would be impossible
even using the ring method, thus maximizing the amount
of needs in the community that are satisfied.

The rings can be arranged by members, but if a network has hundreds of members and each member has several items in their wish/gift lists
it is impractical for a person to deal with such amount of data.
Thanks to computers, that's not a problem,
wish/gift lists can be searched by a program for the largest possible ring,
making this system scalable to any network size."

I think this system has the potential to change the world
from a paradigm of scarcity to one of abundance,
and also the potential to outcompete both Craigslist and E-Bay.

The People's World Bank

So here is how it works,

A group of EVOKE FOREVER Agents will give Network Credits(NC's) to Evoke agents
for posts they find of value, the receving agents will post the awarded post
in the E4E network http://evokeforever.groupsite.com so as to make sure the
awarded post is available to the E4E Agents independently of what happens to the Evoke post after the 10 weeks are gone.

Then, the agents post their Wish and Gift lists in the
EVOKE FOREVER Delta Team webpage: www.delta-team.ning.com
using the Marketplace application, which allows them to post a
Wishlist and Ads offering products and services,
as well as searching the ads and wishlists.

An example Wish List would be like this:

WISH LIST
Math cla**** 10NC /hr
Graphic Design 10NC /hr
Windows troubleshooting help 10NC /hr

An example Gift List would be like this,

GIFT LIST
Hindi-English translation 10NC /page
Web Research 10NC /hr
English proof-reading 10NC /page

So there, the E4E Agents will be able to:
-Earn credits trading products and services for Network Credits,
-Barter.
-Exchange credits for products and services

The E4E Agents will also be able to award credits to
E4E or Evoke posts and to receive credits awards for their posts.

This is exactly how this website works...

Trade ring concepts could expand virtual currency-assisted barter effectively for tangible products--research, writings, illustrations, translations, goods, some services. In my vagabond lifestyle, I have remotely proofread, edited, researched, illustrated for others; like teleflorist or youtube purchases, sometimes the individual components of intangibles shift a bit from product to product, but these, too, could be assigned values, and exchanged in a trade ring.
The process of assignment of value is interesting--as would be standardization and verification of value.
How would the value determinants, and value-distributors (the keys and the keepers of the keys...) be selected?
I guess caveat emptor would exist in a trade ring as well?
Thank you for the interesting post. +1

Very interesting. Does it work better in large or small scale?

+1 for the courage to dream something audaciously creative.

This could be a perfect start of brainstorming how we can make this proposition overcome the hurdle rate that is almost always there when we are proposing something new. May be the architects of Bretton Woods would certainly be interested if we can at least near perfect this audacious challenge of reforming the existing structure.

I have had the opportunity to critique earlier when my good friend Agent Lynn Caldwell proposed Bartering and here I see another courageous and creative idea being proposed. At both these instances, we need fresh ways to meander the existing hurdles and I would be happy if we could all give these creative ideas some genuine thought.

Let us see all those who have reasons to negate this proposition as a meaningful resource and any negative comment as a motivation to "plug the looph***s" and refine this courageous idea of seeking alternatives to what we presently have. Let me request everyone to come forward and help Agent Walden build on this creative idea emanating from an authentic idea of one of our courageous friend & fellow change-maker FreeAgent Panamericana.

Thanks Ethan!

I wanted to share a story with you as an example of your 'trade ring' idea.

A coworker of mine attended Burning Man this past year and witnessed this idea (on a micro scale) in action in the form of a 'wishing well'. One camp of Burning Man participants started a 'wishing well' where anyone could deposit or grant a 'wish'. These ranged from prayers to sticks of butter to bandaids to dance lessons. Anyone in the camp could add or grant a 'wish'. She selected a few wishes that she could fulfill and contacted the wishers. Later that day a caravan pulled up and granted her wish for a stick of butter to make grilled cheese sandwiches.

While this was not nearly as sophisticated as a new global paradigm would be, all it took was one person to start the idea and over the week it turned into a successful community model of reciprocity and social capital.

Thanks for sharing!

Great Idea and thanks for mentioning that, Rahul! ;o) As for the ring...great. I think the question of whether it could 'go global' as it were, is redundnant because if soemthing works in a small scale, then the system needs to REPLICATED, not ENLARGED...:o)

Awesome Ethan! I'm checking it all out now and would love to participate and help!

I'm being informed that you didnt type "AGREE" in the WHAT'S GOING ON post,
when Panamericana got erased. Am I being informed correctly Nicholas?

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
