Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

In manila, small, often orphaned children, beg passing cars for money, walking across the road and tapping the windows of passing drivers, asking for meager amounts of change. Alternatively they try to sell flowers or other such items. However, what many people who kindly and completely innocently give money to the children is that many of them are members of organized gangs, and are used by others to make money. The money you give them is often taken by the organizers of these 'cartels', and very little of it actually goes to the children, who remain starving.
This of course leads to a great moral dilemma, if you give money, you fund the use of these children and extend their suffering, but if you don't, you may deny children of the one source of food they have, no matter how meager.
My family has taken to giving food to the children. They can eat it immediately, and not have to give anything to the cartels.
Unfortunately, this solution isn't great either. Nothing permanent is done. However, even one apple is probably a large meal for these children, and they will get more out of it then from a small amount of spare change.

Feedback and ideas are very welcome!

I think your parents' solution is an effective one. You're right, by giving money to these children, we are not feeding them, but are feeding into the system of corruption and abuse that these children are often victims of. Giving food directly to them goes straight to the source of need. Children can benefit from the nourishment immediately. Nutritionally and psychologically. As reflective citizens, it is our responsibility to ensure, whenever possible, that the aid goes directly to those who need it the most. It may not seem a lot to you; but try living off two meagre portions of rice a day. Imagine what that apple, those wafers or that juice must taste like to that child....Manna.

Bravo - Feeding them is the innovative thing to do! What is the possibility to join your efforts with a church or another organization to expand this?

Giving food is good. Giving money to some sort of existing organization that provides a place of the street and some sort for education for them will probably go even further (adn avoid them getting run over)

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
