A crash course in changing the world.
After 23 years, I finally broke down and got my first credit card. I've always been afraid of credit cards because I've always viewed them as a sure fire way to sink yourself in debt and never be able to recover. However, in today's society, you have to build credit in life in order to be able to do things like buy a house or new vehicle. I've always avoided loans and credit cards in order to stay debt free and graduate debt free. Now that I'm officially about to graduate debt free, I went ahead and got my first credit card in order to start earning credit. This wh*** "buy now pay later" system is kind of stressful because I'm afraid I might forget and miss a payment because I'm so use to always buying things up front; however, I have now managed to set up monthly reminders on my account so I won't miss a billing date. Now that I'm learning more about how to manage my card, I can actually enjoy the convenience of being able to buy something now if I need to and just pay for it later, a little bit at a time. it has actually come in handy a couple of times already and I'm more at ease now with payment timing. It's good to know that I can have the convenience of a credit card without the worry and stress, all I need is good management practices.
