EVOKE II – EPISODE 1

SHANGHAI

PAGE 1

PANEL A

A bird’s view picture of Shanghai.

PANEL B

It is 5pm. People are streaming out of office buildings. The majority of them are senior citizens. An eighty-year-old man on a bus is in deep conversation with a grey-haired woman next to him.

TEXT BOX 1

MAN

I need to find a better job to support me and my father. I’m so tired but I just can’t quit, for there will be no one there to support me!

TEXT BOX 2

WOMAN

I know what you mean. I only have one daughter and she can barely support her own family so I’ve been in this job for more than 40 years.

TEXT BOX 3

MAN

Times are so different now. I remember those days when you could retire at 65.

OFF-PANEL 1

Something needs to be done. This is out of hand.

PANEL C

Suddenly, the bus pa**** a business building with an opening for five janitors. There is a long line of people waiting to be registered for the interview. The majority of people are having white hair.

TEXT BOX 1

At this, the man and the woman just look at each other and sigh.

GOVERNOR 1

We need real help. Birth rates are extremely low and people are forced to work almost until they die so they can support themselves. And job opportunities are scarce. The economies growth rate is at a negative, this can not continue, I would not allow it.

OFF-PANEL 2

Mrs. Governor. It’s not just us. North and central European countries are having the exact same problems.

PAGE 2

GERMANY

PANEL A

A posh night club at Friday night. A couple aging forty and forty-six are out enjoying their Friday night out, partying, dancing, and drinking at the bar.

TEXT BOX 1

MAN

This is the life. I love Fridays!

TEXT BOX 2

WOMAN

Did you know that Sarah is pregnant? That’s why she doesn’t come anymore.

TEXT BOX 3

MAN

Poor thing. Why would anyone want to get pregnant? You can’t have fun anymore.

TEXT BOX4

WOMAN

That’s her choice. But it’s not what I would choose.

TEXT BOX 5

FRIENDS (All agree)

PANEL B

On a dried-up field in Africa, a pregnant woman stands with her husband, looking around them, trying to figure out how they are going to feed their four children and unborn child.

TEXT BOX 1

WOMAN

What are we gonna do? We can barely support ourselves. Let alone our children, and now there is a drought.

TEXT BOX 2

MAN

I know. I know. The situation is not good. But what more could we do? The raining season was supposed to have come already. Yet it is still dried and we can’t borrow money from the bank because we are already deep in debt. I really don’t know.

OFF-PANEL 1

How could this be happening? It is so unbalanced. Something must be done.

GOVERNOR

We need a real plan of action. This unbalance has gone on for way too long and done wait to much damage. It is time to send an evoke, desperate times call for desperate measures.

ASSISTANT

Excuse me, Sir?

GOVERNOR

Do it!

PAGE 3

PANEL A

The evoke team has split into groups according to powers and abilities. They are now off to save the areas in need.

PANEL B

OFF-PANEL 1

All teams ready, over.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
