Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

We all know that a rotating magnet will produce current in a wire. This is the basic principle behind all generators. Most sustainable energy techniques for power generation is centered around way to spin the magnet. Well why not use human power to spin the magnet? We know that in America and Europe there is an obsession with being fit. There are hundreds gyms where people can go and work out. In these gym you will find treadmills, stationary bikes and various weight lifting machines. What I would like to propose is turn all of these different types of workout equipment into power generation equipment as well. If you are on a stationary bike, attache some magnets to the rotating components of the bike. As a person petals the bike they create the electricity that runs the bike and some of that energy is stored in batteries for later usage. Now do this for every piece of equipment in the gym and you can get a workout and use your human horsepower to create sustainable energy for the gym and maybe even sell some of the energy back to the power company.

Great idea.

You can actually buy these kinds of min-generators for your home bike now. The problem? They cost a lost, and so most people will never see positive revenue from them.

Certainly putting them in gyms improves the equation: Those bikes get ridden more consistantly, providing a better return on investment.

Still: How can we improve the cost efficiency of such a system, so that it can be more widely adopted?

What makes it so expensive? If we know what makes it so expensive (it doesn't seem like a mini generator would be that much extra) we can figure out how to sue innovation to cheapen it.

If one knows a little about physics, it is possible to make your own, and it's fairly cheap to do so as well. Why they would be j****** up the price for that is probably to offset a loss of profit from the electric companies. You know, the free market hates it when people rely on themselves and other people instead of manufactured and mass-produced products. :)

My, that sounded a bit conspiracy-theory-ish, didn't it? I'm just being silly.

Well then, Michael, it would be super cool if you made some sort of working prototype of this. If you have an exercise bike lying around, see if you can jury-rig it up?

Alternatively, I bet someone has done this before. Can you find any examples of people doing this? Maybe find out what makes it difficult?

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
