My HEROES OF THE WEEK: Ordinary People
This list was inspired by Catrina Cuevas's blog post My Hero.
Over the past week, the following people - some strangers, some friends, some intentionally, some not - have had an enormous impact on my life and others':

And there are undoubtedly countless more. But if I spend any more time in front of my computer blogging about them, I might miss the opportunity to meet the next ones!
Making this list was fun. I recommend you all give it a try...

Over the past week, the following people - some strangers, some friends, some intentionally, some not - have had an enormous impact on my life and others':
- My mom. I say no more.
- A midwife who showed me that it is possible to be both kind AND firm enough to effectively help a new mother to give birth to her child
- A young mother who cried with joy when her child was born
- A young mother who was not overjoyed to have a child, yet quietly endured hours of painful labour (and often verbal abuse) to bring a little creature into the world

- The waiter at Primi Piatti in Constantia Village who served with a real smile despite having been on his feet all day
- Agent Rahul Dewanjee, for introducing me to The Venus Project and The Zeitgeist Movement.
- My SHAWCO team, who have shown me that passion is a much stronger motivator than money
- All the patients at public hospitals who, with grace and patience, allow themselves to be probed and prodded by inept medical students, so that we may learn from them and become doctors one day
And there are undoubtedly countless more. But if I spend any more time in front of my computer blogging about them, I might miss the opportunity to meet the next ones!

I think having personal heros of the week is such a great idea. I am putting a spark here because I know it is something I am going to do today and this week. I hope it is habit forming.

Fourth of July on the Lake
This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The meal
It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat.
