Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

My second Evokation:

The creation of a solid fuel green energy and recycling business

The first Evokation that I came up with was an amazing idea and one that will have to become essential with the passage of time in the western world, namely that of recycling
heat using the Seeback effect to create electricity. However, if (and
only IF) the purpose of an evockation is to create local change, I
have another idea that might be easier to implement.

Manufacture of pellets for solid fuel in the South Midlands of the UK.

Wood pellets are a highly efficient fuel that has the calorific energy similar to that of coal. Pellets can also be made from other biomass materials and would also have
similar calorific properties. One overlooked form of biomass fuel is
that of paper. Many companies get rid of old records that are a
certain number of years old and as such require security destruction
of the paper and cardboard records. It makes business sense to both
charge for the collection of the paper records and then pulverise
them as a form of security destruction.

A business of this type would require a few things.

Macinery:

Paper pulveriser / powderer

Pellet maker

Wood chip maker (to prepare wood in case we cant get paper)

Bagging machine / sack making and heat sealing machine.

Driving staff and vans may also be needed.

Materials:

Heavy Duty plastic sacking

Wood / wood chips.

Waste paper to be pulverised / powdered and then turned into paper pellets.

Fuel to run the machines.

Factory type premises would be needed to operate the machinery in.

The revenues streams for the business would be

Paper collection

Retail of pellets

Wh***sale of pellets to other pellet distributors.

The secondary revenue streams would stem from strategic partnerships and would entail:

Resale of indoor stoves and boilers from other manufacturers so that both revenue and local client base can be built up.

Sale of small fan assisted camping stoves primarily for revenue raising and to be visibly attractive marketing tools when promoting the business

Resale of imbert downdraft gasifiers for land owners who wish to make their own electricity via an internal combustion generator.

Marketing would include press releases local and national, appearance at country fairs and trade shows, door canvassing wealthy areas and doing leaflet drops in target areas +
having a regular shopping centre or market stall.

If I was to receive money from the World bank to set the business up, it would be mainly spent on the factory and the machinery, with some ploughed back to cover expenses
in operation during the first year, as well as some for a marketing
budget.

I like this idea, especially as a way to wean those operations that burn coal out of their coal habit. In our county at least, coal mining is typically accomplished in a way that is terribly destructive to the environment – and then more damage as you haul the heavy stuff tremendous distances and then even more when you burn it. With your plan, energy production stays local. That's great! Bonus points for Vision...

Good idea. I also liked your posts about recycling energy;
I didn't even know that could be done. Thanks for your knowledge shared.

I've always been a fan of TEG, but besides the use of, say, Peltier Modules what are some other ways to take advantage of the Seebeck effect?

+1 Entreprenurship. I hope you plan to write this up and submit for scholarship? May I suggest that you start putting numbers to some of the costs and look at the revenue. Importantly for social innovation the social impact this project would have and how it can be replicated. I have no expertise in this area but have some experience in proposal writing. If you want some help in putting this in a proposal format I am happy to brainstorm with you.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
