In 2020, I will be celebrating a new festival, one that will be borne out of the movement for self-reliance, sustainability and re-use, 'Festival of Sustainability'
Don't mistake the 'festival of sustainability' for a pagan-style worship of soil, because it would be about people's ability to unite in communities, draw on their individual skills and talents, and create areas where vegetables, food and livestock are grown and kept to reduce climate impact, as well as awakening people to the effort and energy required to create produce.
Lighting would be supplied by solar panels that contained human hair (see my previous blog post) and any food would be home grown. While the festival is designed to celebrate sustainability, it will also recognize the symbiosis between self-reliance and using consumables.
everyone would have arrived by bicycle, each of which would have an attached dynamo, which would power music systems for jamming sessions on instruments, while dinner was cooking on a solar cooker ;
http://solarcooking.org/plans/ ; - While waiting for dinner to be ready, people would be able to share stories of how their sustainable farming has been coming along, and how their sustainable holidays educated them in how to live more responsibility.
Friendship is hugely important, and this ties into the sense of community I believe in so strongly, as I've advocated throughout my blog, and the festival of sustainability would celebrate this community coming together to provide for itself!
