Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

It was a cold dark night with heavy rain hammering down on the earth. But as remi looked out the window of his office he could see the lights in the distance. It seemed he wasn't the only one working late tonight. He always enjoyed looking out the skyscrapers windows. And now with his own office he had a better view than the windows from the hallways. As he looked up at his computer monitor and saw that he was almost finished. He got up the smell of coffee from the staff room was overwhelming. walking to the staff room he looked down, he never liked the framed achievements the company have earned ad stuck to the walls like medals. The big wigs called them bonuses. In the end money was the true goal. They just manged to put up a a mask. as he turned the corner into the staff room he saw who had put on the coffee. It was the boss. She wore a dark blue suit. And a flower on the collar. And a golden plack with the name JESS on it. She turned around to see who was there.

Remi forced a smile and greeted his boss.

”Hay Jess its surprising to see you here”

and with a raised eyebrow she responded

“why would you say that a bosses job is never done. But I was hoping to see you before I left. How is the pipe line project going?”

Remi's face grew grim as he remembered the project he had lost his new years eve to. And said while poring his coffee into it,

”its coming ok, im almost done writing up the contract”.

Jess gave a small laugh,

“ don't be so grim your doing a great thing all the extra hours will be worth it. 2020 will mark the changing of an era. With this pipe line we will not only get rid of the rising ocean problem but use the pipe line to distribute the water through out Africa.”

remi thought to himself. Ya it was a great thing. The pipe line runs from Gambia to Lesotho and will turn back the sands of time and turn Africa back into a green continent. But being so important to the proses he new all the details. Like the fees and charges for the water. The only way people are going to be able to pay for the water is to get a job with the company. And sooner or later the company will have more power than all the governments of Africa. And not to mention the purification process. Using sea water they have the by product salt. And oddly the Canadian and Russian governments will be renewing there contracts for a salt supplier for the country's snow plows. He looked at her and forced another grin

” yeah I guess your write any ways I have to get back to work”

and left to get back to his office. He sat down on his desk and started typing. A couple of hours went by. He sighed as he finally finished. And he was getting ready to send the finial version to jess as he herd something from the street below.

10 9 8 7...

he was going to miss another holiday. He sent the files and went to get his jacket and the screams of thousands of people saying happy new year cough his ears. He went to turn his computer of but right be for he sat down the email alert went off. He looked and it said

you have mail from Alchemy. Remi hastily clicked the link. And read “WE NEED YOUR HELP”

he turned of his computer and head for jess's office. When he entered she looked up and said

“oh hi I just got the files you can leave now.” but remi had a straight face and looked down at her and said

“i am taking a vacation” she laughed and said” are you serious?”

and he looked back and nodded then he turned around and started leaving. Jess's face now filled with shock said

“if you walk out that door your fired!”

and remi looked back and said. “that's fine I quit.

“I have real work to do”
