Being stuck in the middle of an undergraduate degree cuts off any opportunity for me to afford time out to volunteer at the source of the problem. The debt I'm currently in because of said degree means that really donating money is not an option - if it was my money I'd go for it, but I'm borrowing from too many people just now. Both these facts sit badly with me. I'd particularly love to go out and actually see a difference being made.
In light of the fact that the two main avenues for helping with this problem are closed off to me I was very pleased to find the following link ...
http://www.endwaterpoverty.org/
Signing the petition takes two minutes. It doesn't ask for financial donations and it is so quick and easy that I can't think of a single person who wouldn't be capable and willing to put their name to it. I've spread it around my facebook page in the hope that everyone else will feel the same.
I'm also keeping up to date with Water 1st via their e-newsletter in the hope of finding other ways to get involved while still studying.
