Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

NEXT STEP GLOBAL NETWORK OF COMMUNITY URBAN FARMS

Next Step- To build a team that will collaborate to build Community Urban Farms in every city
block in every city in the World.

Urban Farms in every city block in every city in the World. This Community Urban Farms will teach:

> Organic Urban Farming. Crops and techniques will change depending on weather and resources
available. It can mean permaculture, hydroponics, aquaponics, beekeeping, you name it. It all depends on
the context.

> Education. Depending on the context it can go from basic Literacy to advanced Computer Programing
(Could it be on those beautifully designed computers of One laptop Per Child?) Education in a broad sense in one community it can mean a class in storytelling the old stories of the region, in another one a cooking class, in another one a pottery class in another one it can mean a game design class in an other one a
math class or in another one education can mean a Capoeira class. One basic thing that I think should be taught in every Community Urban Farm is basic Human Rights.

It must be fun. If we are planning to improve the World and it´s not a fun one. Why even bother? As I
propose in my blog called "Salsa Dancing and Community" I propose that if you are working in any project
first start with a fun activity. Now I add keep it fun all the time. EVOKE works because it´s fun!!!

Food Security
This Community Urban Farms will build food security and resilience against natural disasters, emergencies, wars, raising cost of food and energetics.

Collaborate
Perhaps even more important than the food security this farms will provide it´s the fact that this Community Urban Farms will be a place to generate strong communities, a place to meet your neighbors, a place to
learn from the young and the elder. A place to learn skills needed based upon the necessities of each
community.

I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS. THE BEST WAY TO ANSER THEM IS PLAYING THIS
GAME:

Next Step- Community Urban Farms- The Game

This is called the "Let´s Collaborate to build a team that will build Community Urban Farms in
every city block in every city in the World GAME" Longest Game title ever huh?

This is a game inside the game (inside the game of life) - Following the EVOKE POWERS every
week you will complete a task related to the Community Urban Farms project.

You get 1 point for every answer:

"Collaboration- Build a strong team. Work together to achieve what it would be impossible to
achieve alone." EVOKE

To build a team that will collaborate to build Community Urban Farms in every city block in every city in the World. Sounds impossible enough?
Then lets Collaborate and really achieve what it seems impossible to achieve alone!!! I have actually more
questions than answers. For this project I´m gonna need help from everyone in the World, literally. We
need to build a team with experienced people from EVOKE and from outside too.
Do you have the Courage?

1 point. Collaborate. Your name here: ________________________________ That was the easiest point ever huh?

PS- We went from what it seems as an impossible task to the easiest point you ever had in a game :-)

Looking, learning, thank you for sharing. Interesting reading--lots to think about.

@Renee - Thank you for your kind words, I agree a lot can be done with tools that already exist. I also started a topic on this on the Evoke Wiki in the education section.

+1 spark. A lovely impossible idea. Why not! That's what dreams are made of and... 1 more garden is just that. Changing the world, one garden at a time.

If you can have a chicken in every pot, a computer on every desk, a car in every driveway, a cellphone in every hand - why can we not have a garden on every block - or even better - a garden in every home?

I'm totally on board with this vision. Is it achievable? Absolutely yes!

What better way to achieve consistent, lasting food security!

Sack gardens are good. I'm using an old shower/bathtub myself. There are many creative planters that can be used. How to build soil in an urban environment is one of the biggest challenges. Collecting all leaves, grass cuttings, kitchen refuse etc. is a good place to start.

I also wrote about Permaculture, so I gave you a point for your collaborative initiative. Thumbs up from me.

Hi! I'd like to be part of this!
I think I have one small little chunk of your project.. http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/units-of-permaculture
At this moment i've found a way to access the USDA.gov database. I'm going to be working with someone off evoke network to finalize this, however, if I need help i'm coming back here.

Cool Ursula! how did you found access? Can you share it?
Comment by Ursula Kochanowsky on March 22, 2010 at 8:26am
I can't claim credit for discovering how to use the database. But here you go:
Data base description
http://npdc.usda.gov/pdf/plants_tutorial.pdf

we can access the information on any plant as long as we have it's id
http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=ABGR4
sends you to the data on glossy abelia
classification is in a comma delimited file you can download as:
http://plants.usda.gov/java/downloadData?fileName=/opt/webprojects/... - save and import this into excell.

In other words..its possible to write a program which will pull all the info out of the database and into another database that can be organized around different needs.

This is so cool Ursula- Thanks for shearing!!!

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
