NEXTSTEP-Creating A Garden With Recycled Goods

I was browsing through pictures today when I saw this image posted by James Ream

This photo truly inspired me to take action in my neighborhood. I have noticed recently that people have been throwing out more and more trash and sometimes it just sits there. Instead of just throwing it out why don't we recycle it. In the photo above you see how someone used a old toilet and turned it into a flower pot. Now instead of this toilet rotting away in a landfill or just demolished its being used to grow beautiful flowers.
I now plan to gather recycled goods around my area and try to start a local garden. I think it will be a good experience and will benefit the community and the planet since we are not just adding more to the local landfills.

Nice, you'd be amazed the things you can turn into gardens. A raised bed can be made from a pushed over old shelf unit and some plastic bags, or an old bathtub:

Yes I agree with just a little bit of creativity you can turn some old items into new and amazing items.

Thats in my garden!

Hannah, I love your idea, and I'm happy to have inspired part of it. Remember that many people view change hesitantly. Gardens unless they are thoughtfully planned and carefully maintained, can decrease property value. (this is how your neighbors may view your project)

I encourage you when using recycled products to be mindful of aesthetics. If your art-garden looks great, and works well, others will join. I have no doubt with your background and the support of community, evoke and local, you'll make beautiful place that other will emulate.

A garden can take less maintenance than a lawn, especially in terms of water and energy. They do require some time weeding, but they're totally worth it.

But yeah, make it pretty, your neighbors might not appreciate a junk-yard garden next door!

Yes I have already checked with my neighbors since I didn't want complaints. I also am getting a great response to it so far many people I know want to help me with it. Hopefully it will turn out nicely.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
