A crash course in changing the world.
Before I start this post, allow a personal note. As Ben has welcomed a new life into this world, my family is at the other end of the life cycle. My presence will probably be spotty at best and my posts shorter than usual. My apologies.
Mission three learn was to seek out some innovators that are working at systems of clean water delivery. Again, as with energy I came up dry, (pun intended), when I was looking for individuals. However, I found one company that I really liked. The company’s name is Bushproof. They are a for profit group out of the UK. The main product that they have is Biosand filters, which they make on site. I have another post almost ready to go on BSF’s, which should be up in a day or two. If you absolutely cannot wait for info, I have already posted on the topic at the Makers Guild Wiki.
Bushproof has a very comprehensive informational site. There is a section with downloadable PDFs which contain invaluable information on not only how to make the BSF, but how to make the two part mold as well.
The other thing that I like about this company is the way they take in money. A person can either send in money as a donation or can invest in the company. Bushproof does encourage entrepreneurship whenever they go, however if the area that they are in is completely devastated, they try to do as much work as they can with the donated funds that they have acquired. I like that.
