Innovation is not about technology or good intents. It is about solving real life problems.
Innovation is intriguing because can only be done by human beings. Mr Kurwzeill (http://singularity.com) may not agree with me, but I believe that to exercise it you need to combine the right and left side of you. It is about creativity and emotion, but also about science and methodology. One without the other , or is just good technology, or just a good will.
To really make us proud (and proud is something you just feel) the innovation has to change people's lifes. Change their problems. But, what is really the problem?
Problems are constraints, and we live surrounded by constraints. Many say that our brains are not that good to make us see things from different angles (thinking out of the box). So, sometimes is not that we do not see a solution, is that do not even understand the problem.
I realized now! Social Innovation is about helping communities identify and solve their own problems. From global to local ones.
That is the secret I've learned!
