A crash course in changing the world.
By looking on the City of New York website, I found out about parts of NYC's plan to combat disasters and other issues. Hurricane Sandy hit us hard back in 2012, and since then, the city has developed a plan to deal with future hurricanes and large storms. This includes fortifying the coastal seawalls on the city's shores, and making sure that we have enough backup generators in case the power goes out. It also takes into account how first responders will assist the public. Police and fire have live drills at numerous times throughout the year in order to deal with these issues when they arise. The city also works with FEMA to get through disasters.
