As I look through the evidence and posts presented by my colleagues I feel several things.
AWE.
There is so much information out there. So many inspirational people and organizations. So many photos illustrating the ideas we are trying bring to fruition.
As for agents, the optimism, collective wisdom, and skills represented by my peers ought to be enough to solve the problems we will face in the game. But we should build on this momentum and apply our knowledge and skills to real world problems. I hope the networks we build will stick with it come June 2010 and June 2020.
CURIOSITY.
Where will all this collective wisdom go when the game is over in May? Will we be able to access it? I read on the discussion board a suggestion for a wiki. Would the entire game be wiki'd? Can you do that?
Who are my colleagues? The bios we have provided give a little information but I am intrigued. I want to know more. I want to sit down with them for a long conversation over a pot of tea (or coffee), and some cookies. I'd offer a glass of wine or beer, but I know that some of you are underage. :)
CONSTERNATION
Of necessity, many of us are posting evidence that we find elsewhere on the web. For example, I don't own a video camera so the video I post has to come from elsewhere. My blog posts are mind dumps. I might borrow a quote from someone else (appropriately cited), but otherwise they are my thoughts for good or bad. But photographs and other graphics... how much do I post from my real life? I have quite a bit. Should I post pictures from my travels and work that serve as evidence for the ideas and projects we are building? I am torn. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
This might be a really silly thought, but it gets back to my curiosity statement. Many of my fellow agents, from what I can read in their posts and bios, sound like folks I would love to meet in real life. The screen interface is a bit frustrating, but since we lack holograms and transport that can make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, it will have to do.
Wisdom begins in wonder. - Socrates
Optimism, combined with intelligence, open-mindedness, drive, and a desire to help others, just seems so rare these days. I really appreciate this opportunity to interact and learn and continue on the road to wisdom. I hope you do too.
