Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Money Makes The World Go Round...

If you don't believe in this saying, then you probably lived in Mars or... under a cave for the past decades.

A person, who's not an adrenaline junky, wouldn't do a b***ee jump just for the heck of it. Personally, I wouldn't do a b***ee jump to prove anything or just to be cool. But pay me a million dollars and I'll jump off that ledge in no time.

LET'S. GET. REAL.

Lots of people love money. Those funny cartoon shows where eyes turn into dollar signs are symbols of how people see life today. If you have money, you rock. If you don't have money, well... too bad for you... or in other words... you suck.

Whether you like it or not, people almost do everything for money. (Almost, not all) But technically, everything we do, even if its short term or long term, have some *KA-CHING!* factors in our heads.

Let's take schooling for example. I'm still a college student taking up Management Economics so this subject is important to me. If a person asks me, "Why are you studying?", my nose will become a mile long if I answer, "Oh! Because I want to know more about the greeks and their philosophies!"

... REALLY?!?! COME ON. Main reason is because I want to earn a degree, get a decent job, and earn..... wait for it.... pine....apples.

Of course it's all about money. I need money to buy me food, clothing, shelter, a bed, a guitar, a piano, a real life Batman suit, and a life-sized statue of a Storm Trooper. If I didn't care about money, I'd drop out of school, sleep in my bed, wake up to eat, then sleep again. Not to mention, it's also a privilege that my parents are paying for my school tuition and that I don't have to work to get my feet in classrooms. So yeah, you can say I'm living THE student life where math problems and history are my main struggles.... and not money... YET.

But as much as people love money, we also hate it for a reason...

THEY. RUN. OUT.

If you have a thousand dollars... and you buy something worth a thousand dollars... you'll end up with no dollars left. Let's do the math:

$1000 - $1000 = $0

But if you work for five hundred dollars... then you get five hundred dollars. But you spend it... so you'll have no dollars again.

$0 +$500 = $500
$500 - $500 = $0

I'm not trying to make everyone look stupid or confused. I'm just saying that as much as money is put into our hands... They eventually run out because we NEED to buy some things to sustain our lives here on Planet Earth. It's inevitable. It's, sad to say, a nature of the 21st century.

Now that we know how powerful MONEY is... what can we do about it? How can we change the way it's being handled in the present time? Will this kind of power change the status quo of poverty and hunger all over the world?

For me... It's a very personal matter in every individual. Its in the word itself. If you have money in your hands, you have two options:

MONEY = M, O, N, E, Y. = MY and ONE

1.) It's MY money, get your own. I'll buy my Batman Suit... and maybe Robin Suit too... AND Mr. Freeze's Suit for those hot summer days!

2.) I have money, and this will finally make us ONE. Batman Suits for all.

Money causes chaos... murders... killings... suicides... mainly because it causes huge amounts of emotions to someone. We want everything for ourselves... and if you have everything, you'd definitely have lots of money in your hands.

Solving the monetary problems of our world could be solved if everyone would just go for ONE instead of MY. To know that having lots of money would make a society prosper and become one in dealing what is needed to be done. But you and I know that this is a very long shot...

... We need "orders" from leaders to be implemented and be followed.

If I'd be king of the world... the first thing that I will do is to make the currency of each nation the same. No more dollars, peso, yen, pounds, rupees, and the like. That way, third world countries and developing countries would finally become one with the other countries because their purchasing power would equal, thus giving them more "money" to develop and prosper as a nation. (Come on... For one... a single dollar is worth around 50 pesos. That's a lot)

If not... then I suggest small scale programs in cities and small towns. I thought of one where the leaders of certain places (I don't know.. Mayors.. or something like that) would collect money from people (The amount depending on their wages) in a constant basis then distributing them at certain times of the year. Again, this shouldn't be country/continent-wide...

....Small towns and cities can do this and we can watch these cities rise up together. (Isn't that some piece of art) This way, rich people would give money to the ones who need them and wouldn't think twice if they should donate out of the goodness of their hearts.

I'm not bashing people who are rich and don't donate money to poverty-filled streets. I just believe that there's an angel in every one of us that would like to help but doesn't have the initiative nor appropriate action to do so. With the government leaders intervening and collecting money from them to distribute, the ones who live in poverty would slowly rise up, start their own businesses in the long run, and eventually live with the "normal" members of the society in terms of income.

Tell me, aint it nice to have a society where there are no poor people? That everyone has the basics to life and are not struggling just so they can live another day?

....I'd die with a smile on my face when that finally happens.

Last note to finish this:

I believe that all of us have that inner goodness. You don't have to do something to prove that you are good.

For example, when you love a girl... you give her flowers... But why? is it because:

A.) You give her flowers so that she may finally say YES to you?
or
B.) You give her flowers because you love her and you want to make her happy?

Love is infinite. But money isn't... so think about it... when you give/donate/share money, do you:

A.) Donate so that your name will be known and you'll attract lots of people to get you MORE money and fame?
or
B.) You share your blessings because you want them to be happy and have a good life... like you have now.

Papercut. It hurts. I know.

Luis, your posts are thought-provoking, but entertaining as well - keep it up! Great title too!

I read an interesting quote today: "I learned a long time ago that credit [praise] is infinitely divisible. Give it away every chance you get, and there's always plenty left for you." Dr. Don Berwick. How's that for something for spending and worth buying =)

Thought-provoking? What do you mean? Haha. Thanks. :)

I got what the quote is saying but not your point. Can you rephrase that? :D No offense!

Is that tax and single currency? Tax seems to work in the UK for Health and Education (on the wh***) and I do think the single currency in Europe has more or less equalized things, based on no knowledge happy to be corrected. It is great too if you can recognise your motives and go beyond to being generous.
Thank you
Best wishes

@A.V.: I believe all of us want that to happen. Everything is supplied by Mother Nature for everyone... not just for some. Let's make this world become a better place. :)

@PJE: As a student, I too don't have enough knowledge to bear the consequences of my plans. But like you said, a single currency will more or less equalize things and that is what we want, Equality. Lots of people don't deserve living at $2 a day. Haha. I'll try to go beyond... but as of now, I believe that this is the only power I can manage in trying to fix Earth's inhabitants.

Well the miss quote is money is the root of all evil, the actual quote is that love of money is the root of all evil.

Good post.

@Wintermute: I agree completely. Money can change thousands of lives in depression... but it can also change the ones who hold it.. Thanks for reading! Highly Appreciate it. :)

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
