Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

The person that I've chosen as my hero is a man named Miguel Medialdea.. He's the Quality and Environment manager at a place called Veta la Palma. It is a fish-farm in southern Spain, and its unlike anything you'd imagine a fish-farm to be. The ecosystem that they've cultivated there is so rich, that the fish they harvest require no feed; they eat exactly what they might in the wild. The system is so healthy that the estuary water that they pump into their fish ponds actually leaves cleaner than when it entered. I wonder how we ever straye away from farming like this.. This is how we should have been doin it all along..

The above are links to stories about Medialdea and his farm.. I'm looking for any and all information I can find about this man and those like him. This is how agriculture should be done; by farmer/biologists who have a respect for the Nature that provides for us. I'll update this post with any more info that I find about these awesome farmers =D

Sounds amazing. I'll check them out. Could what he's doing work in Northern Africa?

That's what great about the idea behind this: it is as infinitely applicable and scalable as Mother Nature herself, is. Provided a comprehensive knowledge of local conditions, indigenous plant and animal life/relationships, water/soil quality, etc..., places like this can (and must) work anywhere. All thats missing is the people with the knowledge and the drive to start making it happen and making it the standard..

I love that TED talk that Dan Barber gave, so even though I've seen it: a +1 KS. I hope everyone can some day have this level of sustainability and love for their environment.

I was just looking for information on Veta la Palma on the internet and stumbled over your blog post. That alone is great, because it shows me that Urgent Evoke could help people that don't even play. I also agree with you that this enterprise has a huge potential for a sustainable food production. Unfortunately I didn't find any scientific a****sment of the fish farm. Did you maybe find something?

These thing that gets me, is that these ideas have been around for years, absolutely years, and regardless of their multiple merits plans like this are ignored. To top it off those that do know about these thing and support them have no clue how to get the ball rolling.

yes. let's take all the experts of self-sustainable environments and mix them with the innovators. the imagination of a prosperous environment can become a reality.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
