Project Prepare - Monroe County disaster preparedness plan - city of Rochester NY

Hello Agents,

This mission was one that is near and dear to my heart.

I have always felt forewarned is forearmed, To that end, I am taking courses in cyber security through the Domestic Preparedness Campus and applying to be a member of the Citizen Corps http://www.citizencorps.gov/.

So imagine my surprise when in searching for the city of Rochester's online plan I didnt really find one. What I found was a series of links and one page on the county site.

The Monroe county government office has a plan called Project prepare. However, its not really a plan its a website with links to many other federal, NGO's, NPO's sites to help the citizens.

After some careful digging, I realized that what the County has done is create a knowledge base of associated nodes. This gives the site a great deal of flexibility, however it does not layout a plan like the San Francisco plan (http://www.spur.org/publications/library/report/theresilientcity_02...) that helps people not just in preparation but in understanding the process and in turn contributing to the process.

I spoke with my neighbors at the apartment complex- from my senior neighbor Irma who had not heard of the site and since she has no net access could not find it on her own, I spoke with my friend Kate (an evoke agent from my area) earlier this month about similar topics and she expressed that she also had no sense of what was in place. Finally, I talked with my friends Lee and Jason and while both have had training from either private or governmental groups , they also had no clue as to what was in place from a county or city wide aspect.

what makes this more puzzling is that we have the homeland security management institute at Monroe Community Collage, The Golisano Institute for Sustainability at Rochester Institute of Technology, and Citizen Corp councils in each town.

So now, I am goignt o take it on myself to contact each of the aforementioned groupds and see what can be done to create a coprehesive plan for the area in line with not only customary diaster preparedenss but those covered here dealing with food, energy, mobility etc.

Ill let you know how I do...

So yes, my digging turned up

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
