Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Season 2 begins with a mystery and a bang! Act10

Okay, here's my script for the first comic of season 2, I've tried to make it explain what Evoke is all about as well as get people interested in what has happened before and what is going to happen next. Please, tell me what you think, considering its only 5 pages and most of the comics we're around 7 there is definitely room for expansion, so if you think it needs more, I'm more than willing to edit. Enjoy!

Panel 1a- INTERIOR, DAY. EUREKA is sitting in Alchemy’s chair at the EVOKE headquarters with screens all around her, Cipher is standing next to her. The faces of QUINN and EMBER are filling two of the screens, writing under their faces identify them, both their names and that they are evoke agents.

Caption: Dakar, Senegal.

Eureka: So what are you guys suggesting?

Panel 1b- Shows Ember in her home, her little girl playing on the floor next to her.

Caption: Legon, Ghana.

Ember: Well we can’t keep going on like we have been, Alchemy has been missing for weeks and he may be gone for good. What are we supposed to do?

Panel 1c- View of Eureka and Cipher’s faces, Eureka still sitting looking at the screens in front of her alarmed, Cipher standing and frowning in concentration as he looks at his small computer tablet which he is holding in his hands.

Eureka: We keep going! Alchemy is the leader of the Evoke Network, we owe him, big time.

Panel 1d- Flashback panel of Ember sitting at her desk in her office at Legon University looking up in surprise to the doorway in which Alchemy stands.

Caption: Alchemy was the one who found us.

Panel 1e- Alchemy and Eureka are standing close together looking over a set of blueprints in Eureka’s workshop. Eureka is staring intently as Alchemy points at the blueprints, obviously explaining something.

Caption: Showed us how we could use our skills to help others

Panel 1f- Alchemy and Quinn overlooking a field with a few beehives and smiling happy workers there (the beginning of Quinn’s honey farm venture seen in the first comic) Alchemy has his arm around Quinn’s shoulders and is gesturing towards the horizon. Quinn has a big grin on his face.

Caption: And that if we worked together we could make a real difference in the world.

Page 2

Panel 2a- View of Eureka and Cipher in the EVOKE headquarters again, Eureka gesturing towards Cipher with her thumb, Cipher looking at Eureka in surprise and mock offense.

Eureka: He even managed to knock some sense into Cipher, show him he should be helping us not trying to expose us.

Cipher: Hey!

Panel 2b- a side view of Quinn sitting in his office looking at a screen that shows Eureka and Cipher as well as Ember on the other end of the call. Through a large window a huge vista including the now much larger honey farm can be seen.

Caption: Great Rift Valley, Kenya

Quinn: We understand that Eureka, but we haven’t heard from Alchemy since we helped with the Pearl River Flu pandemic in China, it may be that he doesn’t want to be found.

Panel 2c- Side view of Eureka and Cipher, Eureka still looking concerned, Cipher concentrating as he leans over to tap on the keyboard bringing up the large world map.

Eureka: We have no idea what’s happened, so I don’t think we should stop looking, but whatever we do we can’t give up on the Network!

Panel 2e- Close up of Ember’s face on the screen in Alchemy’s headquarters

Ember: I don’t want to anymore than you do, Eureka, but how can we go on? Alchemy had the connections, he had everything running through him, we just don’t have enough information.

Panel 2f- Wide shot of all the screens in the headquarters, the map in the middle and Quinn and Ember’s faces to either side. The map now has bright spots lit up in Rio de Janeiro, Tehran, Los Angeles and London.

Quinn: And what about Alchemy’s mysterious backers? They’ve probably not heard from him either, and if they get nervous and pull their money out we’ll soon run out of funds.

Ember: And we exposed ourselves at Pearl River, we need to be even more careful, sure the good guys know who we are now, but those who don’t like us meddling in matters also have a more clear target now.

Panel 2g- Wide shot of Eureka and Cipher. Eureka looks crestfallen, Cipher on the other hand has a big grin on his face. He has the tablet in his hands, he’s holding it up facing away from himself towards the screens. On it are pictures of four different people with their names and agent status underneath them, all four say inactive.

Cipher: All very good points, guys. Luckily, I have the solution to all our problems.

Page 3

Panel 3a(big panel)- View of Cipher and Eureka in front of the large central map with the four pictures next to the lit up locations. A fresh-faced young man called Joao next to Rio (from episode three), a stern looking woman called Arifa next to Tehran (she’s the lawyer from episode six), a black man who looks to be in his late twenties/early thirties called Mack next to Los Angeles, and a young white woman called Kate next to London. The screens with Ember and Quinn on them are either side of the map.

Quinn: Who are they Cipher?

Cipher: They’re our new recruits. When I was trying to get the story on you for Citizen X I spoke to anybody and everybody to try and get more info. They never told me anything, but some them left quite an impression.

Panel 3b- Close up of Joao’s picture and codename similar to the panels first introducing Ember and the rest in the first episode of this season.

Cipher: I met Joao in Rio, you probably remember him as well Eureka, months after the EVOKE energy crisis he realized being able to watch football at home thanks to your windmill wasn’t a big enough change for him and he’d organized the local kids to look for more ways to get energy. He’s a really tech savvy kid, he’s now using the power from your windmill to power a computer he’s built from scrap.

Panel 3c- Close up of Mack’s picture and file

Cipher: I interviewed Mack after the Los Angeles fires last September. He’s a doctor, I’m pretty sure he treated you, Quinn, after you got burned trying to help out that accident on the 405.

Quinn: Hey, you’re right!

Cipher: Well he’s been helping organize healthcare for the survival camps, put in place a barter system instead of payment, its impressive stuff.

Panel 3d- Close up of Arifa’s picture and file

Cipher: Arifa was heavily involved in getting Sareh released. You remember, that activist who was kidnapped by terrorists? Anyways, Arifa is now the head of a legal firm that is focused on fighting for women’s rights in Iran.

Panel 3e- Close up of Kate’s picture and file

Cipher: Last but not least is Kate. I met her during the London EVOKE, she took over handing out the LifeStraws during the floods. She’s an ecologist, and since then she’s been in charge of reintroducing natural water management and filtration systems like marshlands and bogs, back into Britain’s big cities. Half of Edinburgh is peatland and safe from flooding now thanks to her!

Panel 3f- Wide shot of the entire map and the screens of Quinn and Ember again.

Ember: These people all are amazing Cipher, but how are they the solution to all our problems?

Page 4

Panel 4a- Close up of Eureka

Eureka: Its just like you said Ember, the network is vulnerable, so we need to make sure that if our enemies manage to stop some of us, there will be more agents ready to step in and take our place. Alchemy couldn’t do everything on his own, he needed us. Now we need to bring these new people on board to help us if we want the network to continue.

Panel 4b- Wide shot of Cipher and Eureka, Cipher is looking down at his tablet again, tapping the screen, while Eureka is staring up at him admiringly.

Cipher: Exactly! I should be able to hack into most of Alchemy’s programs now that we’re here in the headquarters. I’ll gain access to as much of the network as I can and with twice as many people we can continue from where Alchemy left off.

Panel 4c- Cipher and Eureka in the headquarters again. Eureka has now jumped up to hug Cipher and plant a kiss on his cheek. Cipher has a big grin on his face. He’s got one arm around Eureka and the other is holding up his tablet with Alchemy’s mask on it and the words “password accepted”

Cipher: So you guys in?

Eureka: You’re a genius!

Panel 4d- Close up of both Ember and Quinn’s faces in the same panel. Both have big grins on their faces too.

Ember and Quinn: You can count on us!

Panel 4e- Big panel, view of the entire headquarters room from behind Cipher and Eureka, Quinn and Ember on the screens. On top of the map, right in the middle is a new screen with Alchemy staring out at the room.

Alchemy: Glad you got everything figured out.

Quinn, Ember, Cipher and Eureka: Alchemy!!!

Panel 4f- a small box within panel 4e, close up of Eureka

Eureka: Are you okay?!

Panel 4g- small panel within panel 4e, close up of Ember

Ember: Where have you been?

Panel 4h- small panel within panel 4e, close up of Quinn

Quinn: Whats happening there?

Page 5

Panel 5a- close up of the screen which shows Alchemy, behind him there is smoke and a collapsed building. Alchemy looks worried and tired.

Alchemy: I know you’ve all got questions, and I will answer them, but can I first say how glad I am to see you all and how happy I am that you’ve kept the network going, and from the sounds of it are improving it.

Panel 5b- wide shot of Alchemy’s screen in the middle of the map with all the new agents pictures arranged around him.

Alchemy: Cipher, I’m asking you to activate the new agents and get them up to date. People we have a new EVOKE.

Panel 5c- huge panel, takes up the rest of the page. Alchemy is sittting in the middle of a war zone, the remnants of a village scattered around him as he speaks into his laptop which is resting on a large rock. There is smoke rising from all over, a few fires still visibly burning, with men further off armed with guns and shooting at something out of sight.

Alchemy: And I’m the one making it.

To be continued......

The first mission challenges:

Learn- research season 1, the storyline the challenges they faced and some of the content they created, tell us what you think. We’re you aware of Evoke last year, or is this all brand new to you?

Act- Pick a real life hero, it can be anyone, including an agent from season 1, try and get in touch, facebook, twitter, etc. if you’re really brave contact a season 1 agent and ask for a mentorship.

Imagine - New agents are being called upon to help out the Evoke Network, and that’s you! Imagine you’re life in 2021, what would you be doing when Cipher makes the call, what is it about you’re life and work that made an impression on Cipher in the first place?

How the story would continue:

As daunting as it may be for a second mission, I would have the next gen agents dealing with war and conflict. Alchemy has been off the grid trying to track down Alpha. He realized that it must be at least partly a personal vendetta after the message about his past in episode eight, so Alchemy decided to go after Alpha on his own. He was just about to catch up with Alpha, haven’t decided where yet, when in order to make a get away Alpha stirred up tensions between two warring factions in the area who had only just agreed to a shaky cease fire. Now Alpha is long gone and Alchemy is stuck in the middle of a war zone.

He needs the Evoke agents to come up with a way to calm the fighting long enough to get people back to the bargaining table. Alchemy of course feels responsible for the situation as well, and feels bad about leaving the agents in the dark, so there’s lots of opportunity for character development.

The talents of the new agents will also be very relevant- Mack is a doctor can help with the aftermath of conflicts, Arifa is a lawyer who can serve as an impartial mediator when terms are negotiated. As a lot of conflict is about money, Quinn can try and find a way of making stopping the fighting a better financial decision. Many conflicts are about resources so Kate and Eureka along with Joao can work on using tech and the environment to provide better for everybody. I think there is great potential in the characters and the storyline. I enjoyed this process so much I may even create a script for the second mission as well.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
