A crash course in changing the world.
I chose the Business Idea of Gyanesh Pandey (like many others, probably) as an example for social entrepreneurship. His company probably is one of the biggest and therefore best-known examples for social entrepreneurship at the moment. Pandey developed a method how to make electricity out of rice husk, which is a usual waste in India. The company "Husk Power Systems" serves around 92,000 customers in their metropolitan Area in India at the moment. Husk Power Systems won a Business Plan Competition and have received more than $3 million in investment from venture capital sources. The company also has created many local jobs. They also make profits of 0,07 $ per kwh, and it is possible that they are even more profitable than traditional electricity companies. Their homepage is: http://www.huskpowersystems.com/
A very good Idea in my opinion! Unfortunately not every Start-Up becomes that successful, or has Ideas that are that promising. But the more people try, the higher the possibility that someone is successful ;)!
