I have two ideas about how to go forward with this mission objective. I thought I would write them up to encourage myself and harvest any ideas from my great readers.
1) Coventry University has courses in Disaster Management and Emergency planning in their
Department of Geography, Environment and Disaster Planning. I wonder whether their staff and students have been involved in developing local development and emergency response plans?
2) I have heard that the established church, the Church of England, is involved in civic planning for major emergencies as a lead co-ordinator for Volunteers local areas. Because it's the official church there is one in every local area and usually involved in a lot of social work, it's a good way for the official emergency services to tap into a network of volunteers. I have met the local lay leaders at the Anglican church, St Stephen's, so I am going to make contact and find out how I can get involved.
