Speading the Word On Promoting and Fostering Gender Equality
as a beginning to this mission assignment, i am mentioning Urgent Evoke and listing links to gender equality activist groups that i support on the social networking sites that i am a part of, including Facebook and MySpace:
an easy trap for all of us to fall into is that of complacency and insular thinking. there are vast numbers of people that simply do not realize the on-going nature of the fight for equality all over in the world, even the fights taking place in their own society. it is all too easy to think that the work is done, with the figurehead fallacy and attempts in the media to highlight select stories while covering up abuses. all we can do is promote awareness and take part in activism to try to improve the world.
we must first work to remove the barriers that prevent women from being able to help themselves, both legally and socially. as was featured in the comic story, what good are education and tools if laws and social rules prevent women from using them?
remember, seek the TRUTH!

You make a great point here, nomadHAR - that no matter how many times we are reminded that there are great inequalities around the world, it can be very easy for us to forget once we get caught up in our daily lives. Thanks for spreading the word!

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
