Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I initially started this blog with 1 suggestion, but I'm finding a few others I think that would be useful. In the past I've written similar blogs and the site implemented a few, so I figured I'd give it another try.

1. Add user blogs as examples in mission descriptions
I have been going through trying to complete the missions, because I realized how much I have been learning by having some direction with my thought and research. However, I noticed something which has been bothering me...When I'm reading about the mission objectives, there is no easy way for me to read other agent's blogs who have already completed the mission.

If you notice, we do label our blogs as "evidence" for a certain mission, and they are nicely categorized within our profile, but it would be nice to see the evidence organized this way for everyone to see. I went through the Evidence tab, and found no way to sort evidence there either.

I know the initial idea was to have people "tag" their posts in the tags and subject area, but since we have to "tag" the evidence by mission in order to receive our "Power Votes", it would seem to make sense to leverage that tag in helping people use the site :)

2. Have a button to "follow agent" at the top of every blog
I've been trying to figure out how to NOT get this spam from everyone on the site, but realized it was one of the few effective ways for people to keep up with new blogs.

I'd like to suggest adding a "follow agent" button at the top of each blog, which will email you when a new blog is written by that agent. There might be a "seriously follow agent" button which would email you every time that agent makes a comment as well.

With this new button, I would be comfortable telling people to STOP SPAMMING. But until then, I guess KEEP SPAMMING, because it does help me find blogs...ugh, can't believe I'm saying that. Please Evoke, help us stop spamming each other.

At the bottom of a person's main blog page (where all the posts are listed with a short intro). In the same place as it is on the individual posts. Across from the RSS button.

Thanks for the feedback Nicholas. I agree with that better highlighting of the follow option would be a good idea.

When Evoke was launched, the evidence label wasn't there at all but was developed some weeks after once it was quite clear that self-tagging wasn't working. Making it as a means to better facilitate browsing would be a good next step.

1. nick, i wish you would drop in more often - for one thing , i can easily find all the tagged posts
learn, inagine and act
you go to all blogs
and on the right hand side you see featured posts, most popular posts and tags
how to go to all blogs? well after you put in your post go to profile page click on your blog posts
and you come to oyur blog
there you also see the blogs (all) option
2. reg. spam - if we could sort in mailbox our mail we could reach somewher
the craziest thing is i cant choose who iwant to mail because i have to add friends manually and if you have a huge frineds list like i have it becomes insane
why cant some ordinary email features be found in the email box?
Comment by Samiran Roy on April 11, 2010 at 5:44pm
Because Evoke is a cross between a Game/Social network, having incomplete features of both.

I wish there was some kind of integrated list of 'watched blogs' rather than have the notifications go to e-mail. I know I posted on this subject a while back Nicholas and I totally agree with you. I think the Ning platform isn't flexible enough for that, though.

I am working on a new messaging system, at least the design side. This system would allow agents to easily contact a range of users without having to send messages to everyone.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
