Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I played EVOKE within a seminar at my university. Therefor the questions which I answered differ from questions that are requested within the mission. But they seem really similar so I think that shouldn´t be a problem.

What positive experience did you gain by playing EVOKE?

To me the wh*** EVOKE website left a pretty positive impression right after seeing it the first time. The website was designed with much care and the missions which were put in several comics gave it a certain depth.

I addition to that I realised, by participating in EVOKE, that I hadn´t yet dealt with many of these problems. I didn´t know how serious and far reaching some problems could be. That definitely changed my attitude concerning the problems I processed during the game. For example, I didn´t know that there could ever be problems concerning the food supply in Germany.
I think I am going to end the game with much positive experience. I became aware of the worlds problems and I am concentrating on people around me and my environment.

At the end of that question I also have to say that every EVOKE hero has given me another positive experience. Without the articles of the other players I may not have realized the range of certain problems and I wouldn´t have got such a profound insight.

What negative experience did you gain by playing EVOKE?

In general, I only made two negative experiences by playing EVOKE.

First there is the website handling, which started to be a bit difficult for me. There was no chance for me to post my blog entries on the particular missions.
So I was looking for a solution but couldn´t find the FAQ page. After using a popular search engine to find a solution for my problem I realized that there was a blogpost occupying with FAQs. This blogpost was really helpful and I was able to solve my problems really fast after that, but nevertheless I think EVOKE is in need of an official FAQ page. This would make every new heroes start much easier.

My second problem was to solve some of the tasks I was given. But maybe that is something I have to blame myself for. I am really bad in solving tasks that don´t conclude in “right“ or “wrong“.

How could EVOKE be improved to increase the motivation?

For my personal motivation at the beginning of the game it would have been of great benefit if I myself could have chosen a topic in any way. I would have liked to choose the order of topics from the beginning. In my opinion it would also have helped if after the first mission the topic would have been a current problem which was recently covered by the media. The start would have been so much easier and the gained motivation could have given me a push at the more difficult missions.

How could EVOKE be improved to increase the information brokering?

The important informations at EVOKE are conveyed quite well, but to reach the attention of a bigger crowd it would be advantageous to offer the game in more languages like for example Spanish. As a result more people who can´t speak English would be able to participate in EVOKE. This would increase the diversity of ideas and prove that every single person can do something against the worlds problems.

Of course the players communication would be complicated by a language barrier but as we learned by playing EVOKE, there is a promising solution for every kind of problem.

How could EVOKE be improved to facilitate the tasks solutions?

Personally, I think there isn´t much room for EVOKE to make the solutions any easier. Problems are already explained during the individual briefings and in addtion to that, examples for a possible solution and links to relevant websites are given to the player. And if that still shouldn´t be enough you can find some ideas on the linked websites that are worth searching for in the internet.
And to be honest, without research the game wouldn´t be have as much fun.

While playing EVOKE, was there ever an event to be remembered by you? Please describe it!

There is one event which I remember clearly. It was the act mission called “future of money“. I never thought of he possibility to promote special projects by the use of microloans. And suddenly there is EVOKE and it is telling me that there is a wh*** internet portal about that subject. So I took heart and chose someone to help with my money. After a long search I finally decided to help a young man from Lebanon to finance his tuition fees. The knowledge of these portals and that they also are being adopted is my special moment at EVOKE.

Which game mechanisms did you perceive positively and why?

I got to say that by positive game mechanisms I have to mention are the comics and stories. They are full of love of detail. Also I like the allocation of powers by other players. So it is easy to show another player by just one klick that you like his work and which aspect of his article is important to yourself.
I may just speak for myself but every “Vote“ motivated me a bit more.

Which game mechanisms did you perceive negatively and why?

The game mechanism which I think stood out negatively was the Leaderscloud. Personally, I don´t have to know where I´m standing compared to others and I had the feeling the Cloud didn´t work for a long while as well.
In addition to that I would like to see an official FAQ page and being able to write a blogpost. But maybe I just did´t discover this option until the end. I always had to use the “a Blog post“ link in the mission menu to write a new post.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
