A crash course in changing the world.
I imagine that in 2020 my family is celebrating a non-denominational christmas in which the lights are powered by the wind, the earth and water. Every renewable source that occurs naturally in the environment will be tapped and culminate to a point in which oil and gas will only be remembered in the history textbooks. I imagine my husband and I trading stories about when we used to exchange gifts they came wrapped in unnecessary packaging thats production was harmful to the earth (such as petroleum based plastic and styrofoam). Now everything is wrapped in biodegradable recycled materials and our kids are unable to imagine it any other way.
When we sit down for our dinner feast we dine on a turkey raised naturally and free range without hormones or steroids. My husbands regales the kids with stories of when he was a young man and worked on a chicken farm. He tells tales of the horrible conditions and wasteful tendencies they operated under and the kids believe he is lying. I imagine 2020 as an enlightenment of renewable energy.
