A decade has passed since my family and a few close friends started building basic facilities for small groups to camp on our land here in the Adirondack State Park. It has been quite a learning experience and an honor to meet so many interesting people! During that time, we have expanded our facilities to enable cla**** and seminars in permaculture, sustainable living, social stewardship, participatory government, crafts, music, spirituality, and much more.
The five acres we cleared as many years ago is now feeding our small, year-round staff and provides some extra funds from the roadside produce stand and a local seasonal restaurant. The trees that were cut to make room for the garden were milled here and used for a larger community building with a nice kitchen. It has taken much work, but it has been enjoyable and has improved the health and fitness of everyone involved.
