A crash course in changing the world.
I found a very interesting project of the Thai police to train their cadets as "change agents" in order to reduce violence against girls and women, which still nowadays remains a big problem in Thailand. The training includes role of police in justice system, police as change agent, and attitude and behavioral change. The workshop is part of Thailand’s commitment to contribute to the UN Campaign to End Violence against Women.
The idea behind this undertaking is that the Police is the first contact point in the justice system. So the way laws are being implemented is largely shaped by the Police. If the Police are aware of the importance of the rights of women, they will be able to ensure justice for women in accordance with the law. In order to create a better understanding of this matter within police forces the training program was established. Furthermore authorities are encouraged to allow more women to join Thai police forces.
