Matt Wilson got me thinking about a quote that I heard recently from one of my clients.
“I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” -Maya Angelou
It seems to me that the point of Evoke is to bring the passionate people of the world together to inspire each other and bring interesting ideas to the table. But bringing ideas to the table is only the first part of the battle. The real challenge has to be inspiring people!
Tell me: how do YOU feel about people's attitudes towards Climate Change in your region?Preaching to the choir is meaningless, I encourage people to start projects in their own backyards and get people involved slowly. If enough groups form, merge them together! Get group mentality to rein over people's emotions - it makes it easier for people to get caught up in their emotions when they know they aren't the only ones.
And, finally, use that momentum to go affect real change. Go after the big chunks, the BIG wins. If your neighborhood agrees to keep the power off for a weekend, great. If you can get a wh*** zip code to do it, even better. Get your downtown district to participate in something like
Earth Hour? Now THAT'S power savings!
Don't underestimate what you can accomplish if you can create that emotional attachment.
