The Urban Bike Messengers have set up shop in Milano. Significantly, they are headquartered in Hub Milano, the coworking space dedicated to social innovators.
These guys are getting a lot of attention because they managed to throw together three features of small deliveries:
These guys are getting a lot of attention because they managed to throw together three features of small deliveries:
- they are green. People like to be seen using them rather than, say, UPS.
- they are cool. They have great gear, and look like soldiers from the future, ragged and hi-tech and tough.
- they are fast. When you apply for a job, you have to pass a next-to-impossible task for an ordinary human, like "cross the city by bike in twenty minutes".

I see Milano bike messengers are no joke - they use racing bikes! ... our bike messengers in Ljubljana just use ordinary mountain or city bikes ...

Not only racing bikes: one-shifters, with direct pedals-to-wheel transmission. They have brakes for safety, but they can break also pedaling backwards. I told you, these guys are cool!

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
