A crash course in changing the world.

The secret of Imagination ^___^

"think like a child – children have no limit to their thinking"

I pick this secret because I see children as the emblem of Imagination, which according to me is the most important tool for any kind of change.

As we grow old, except for particular job-fields and art (and often not even these are excepted), living in this society demands lesser and lesser imagination.
Beginning with schools, that from a certain class on suddenly stop asking students for imagination efforts, and then it's even worse when school brings you to the work-world. Rationality becomes the first requirement: to deal with money, job, house, family and arrive safe at the end of the month and ready for the next month starting. Imagination is relegated to entertainment filling the free time, in a way it tragically becomes a passive experience. And when it is still active, its action is mostly to escape reality.

In my definition of imagination I write these statements:
Imagination is the ability to see and/or create connections between things that are not already connected.
Imagination is the ability to understand and so to accept ideas that show or create those connections.
Imagination is the ability to trust the 'new' and so the 'change'.
Imagination is the ability to analyze existing connections, to compare them to the desired/imagined ones, and so to draw distinctions, and so to judge the existing connections.
Imagination is the ability to generate alternatives.
Imagination is the ability to design a new society.

That's why Imagination is my favorite secret for social innovation, and to change the world. =)

"Now, there are some who question the scale of our ambitions - who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short. For they have forgotten what this country has already done; what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to common purpose, and necessity to courage."
- Barack Obama Sworn In as 44th President of United States (January 21, 2009)

Let's keep on imagining, let's change the world!
Thank you,

^____^ this is the basis of the research I started some time ago, the aim of which is to develop a teaching tool that uses imagination and "stories" as means for analyze and change the parts of current society that are not desirable.

Again, thank YOU Michele for giving your time and attention to my words and thoughts.
I desire your imagination to bring you happiness and to help you being a great change maker.
=)

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
