One alarming scenario for HK would be the arrival of a new virus that quickly spreads through the densely populated city. Sharing knowledge on the spread would be of vital importance. A network like Ushahidi could help collect data on where outbreaks have occurred and when it would be safe to stay at home, share encouragement that the situation is manageable, and provide advice on where to go for medical assistance. Data of hospitals and other medical service providers would also be useful. In addition, like the recent H1N1 outbreak, we needed accurate data to track where people have gone after leaving an infected zone and all the people they may have come into contact with.
