I currently study journalism because I think mass medias can be, and should be, a great way to educate people outside of the school system. Really, I see them as a possible mean to empower individuals and community, giving them essential informations on how things work and what's the social/economic/political/cultural/etc. context of actions and decisions that make up the news we see everyday.
My ideal, then, is to work as an educator, even if that's not in a media. I want my social contribution to be very much like the allegorical tale
The Man Who Planted Trees : a small help, relatively speaking - just what it takes to help someone else become a better person - but reproduced thousands of times. Someday, I believe, the allegorical "forest" will grow out of it.
My next goal is to get a master degree in political sciences and religion. I'm interested in how religion helps shaping an individual's or a collectivity's view of the social world, and how they deal with their political system's restrictions, laws and such. I want to study questions of secularism, faith-based international help, etc. I believe that in this materialistic world of ours, we should try to know more about people with spiritual beliefs.
So in 2020, I see myself possibly as an analyst in a radio show, a columnist, a college professor, or a worker for a charity organization, even. What I know is that I'll work hard to educate people so they know themselves and others better. I think that's one more way to achieve social peace.
